For Zachary's birthday, he received several new modes of transportation -- a large battery-powered schoolbus (an electric vehicle? Who knew children's toys would be so with the times!) and a neat and attractively primary-colored tricycle. The little man gave the bus a few spins last week. Here's a video:
And Saturday night, I finally assembled the trike. It came in a giant box, which of course the little man loved to use as another toy this morning. Assembly involved good use of allen wrenches, screwdrivers, and featured instructions in a dozen languages, and even a 'supplementary instruction for installation procedures' sheet. (Ouch to whoever missed that step in the original printouts.) He loves the trike, though he won't be able to reach the pedals for a little while yet.Thanks to grandma and Aunt K for these, and to everyone else for all of his excellent and thoughtful birthday gifts!

Boxes... best thing EVER. If you never buy another toy again - just get boxes.
We took a low box (about 5 inches high) and I stuck my Xbox steering wheel at the front - becomes a car, complete with passengers sitting at the back.
Then you can take a bigger box, make some eye-wholes and he's a little robot.
There's a web-site somewhere (link is in GeekDads I think) of a company that will sell you plans and 'connectors' to make entire castles, rocket ships, etc. just from packing boxes alone.
Oh - and now, your only role in life is to push Zach around - mainly 'faster, faster' - if he's anything like J.
