I am the key master

Zachary has always had a fascination with keys; Meh has a fun framed box of turn-of-last-century keys hanging upstairs, and Zachary and I always used to count them together in the morning before walking downstairs, to much smiling. From here he's moved onto actually handling keys - Meh has a few additional old-style skeleton keys that he'll carry around the house and drop between the slats of a wooden bench. Today he suddenly made the leap (perhaps prompted by mommy? But if so, this still means he's understanding more and more) to try the key on the child doors we have going out of the kitchen:



Lately these keys have also become part of his ongoing sound-making tests -- he loves to sit in the front hall, between the marble-floored entryway and the wooden-floored hallway, and test out the differences in sound the key makes on the two surfaces. Here's a video Meh caught of his experiments:
