Today was actually not raining (unlike the crazy heavy rain and even flooding we've seen most of the week), so we all walked through the woods and over into the park to play there for a bit. Zachary's first attempts at self-direction didn't quite go according to plan:We eventually made it to the park through a combination of hand-holding and shoulder riding (see below). A lot of people were out with their dogs, and Zachary would watch, smile at, and occasionally say "ah ah!" (his version of 'arf arf') when he saw one go bounding by. There was also some slide action, as well as just the fun of walking around the playground.
The little man continues to do new and interesting things every day! A few days ago he willingly ate his first vegetable (carrots, which we also sneak into his favorite quesadillas). He lasted a whole two or three baby carrots before he got tired of eating them; rather than throwing them over his shoulder, he held a carrot up to my face. When I ate it out of his hand, he thought it was the funniest thing in the world.Sometimes Zachary just likes to walk around and talk loudly to himself. I saw this firsthand when we went to the mall for lunch with friends this past weekend and then played in the new children's play area. He just ran around the cushy floor and squishy maritime-themed climbing toys, hollering happily to himself for like a half hour. Here's a similar video mommy caught of him at home:
