Zachary has been having a lovely trip in sunny Florida! The weather has been fabulous, the company (mima, papa, uncle Josh, and a tasty brunch with great grandparents and cousins) has been excellent, the food always plentiful, and the outings have been simultaneously visually stimulating for him (antique fair, art show, and today the beach) and nice and relaxing for us.Uncle Josh had Zachary in stitches today with a silly monkey imitation - Zachary kept throwing his head back and just laughing and laughing (see a picture of the evening show at the bottom of this post). Zachary also now likes being bounced on beds and ottomans (so long as there are happy noises accompanying the bounces), and giggles with each bounce.
The beach was lovely; mima and papa have an annual rental of these fancy dual covered chairs, which Zachary alternately layed out on or sat on my lap on while making mostly happy noises. We stayed mostly on the chairs to hide out from the bright sunshine (he also had his first experience with baby sunscreen, though we avoided painting the hands that so often end up in his mouth). But during one rare cloudy moment, we took him down to the beach (avoiding a small minefield of tiny man-o-wars) and he got to dip his feet in the ocean for the first time. He wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but seemed okay with the experience. In the evening, we had a tasty thai/sushi dinner and then visited poppy and nanny. Zachary was a bit unhappy on the way there, but gave several happy laughs for poppy and smiled for nanny as well. The drive home was his last straw though, as he was very unhappy despite the entertaining sights and sounds of uncle Josh and mommy. But fear not, naked bathy time wrapped up his day on a happy note.
