A good foundation

Precarious towerZachary's been frustrated trying to assemble Duplo lego structures on the fluffy shag carpet in the living room. (Meh has separately been frustrated trying to keep said fluff from invading every other room of the house, but that's another story.) I'd occasionally help him out by building large lego bases for his structures, but they'd still eventually topple over to hollering and occasional tears. So it was time to take the next step, and this morning, we introduced him to a big green flat duplo surface (sorry, a "building plate"). First he wanted to walk around with it and play with it like a regular (albeit awkwardly large) toy, but as soon as I showed him that his legos would attach, he got very excited with it and started building up crazy Zachary structures on the floor. Gravity and sound engineering practices are no obstacle for the little man, but at least the plate might give his towers a fighting chance.
