El milagro del ratón

(That's "The miracle of the mouse." It just sounds more dramatic in Spanish.)

To brighten the mood just a little bit, I wanted to tell of a family experience my mom's been sharing with friends. She and my dad received a wall-hung clock many years ago at one of my dad's veterinary conferences. The primary part of the clock is in the shape of a cat, and the pendulum at the bottom of the clock is a moving mouse that the cat is preparing to pounce on. The pendulum stopped swinging many years ago; the clock continued to function fine through multiple battery changes, just with a stationary mouse pendulum - my mom had even tried manually pushing it started, to no avail. Last night when we heard the news and were sitting in the kitchen, my mom looked up and noticed that the pendulum had, after many years, gone back into motion again. It's still functioning fine today. Whether this is a coincidence or some small sign in the form of a moving mouse-shaped piece of plastic is left to the individual to interpret.

Many family friends and veterinary clients have left heartfelt notes and shared stories of their experiences with and love of my dad via the chapel's website, which get e-mailed to my mom. Every story we read paints a fuller picture of this incredible man's life and his impact on those around him. Thank you again to everyone for their kind words, love, and support.

Wow- you're right about the dramatic impact of 'Milagro del Raton'- I'm imagining it being said in one of those deep announcer voices :)

Both of you have been in my thoughts a lot this week. Thanks for continuing to post on your blog, and please let me know if there's anything I can do from this end.

Love,
Shawna
