Zachary through the looking glass

Portrait of the Zachary as a Young ManToday was Zachary's 9-month doctor checkup. It's amazing to believe that he's now existed as long in the 'outside' world as he did when he was making these kinds of noises. The noises he makes now are more and more expressive - happy screeches and squeaks, 'guhs' and 'duhs' of happiness (or when spotting Korby), 'nuh-nuh-nuhs' when he's unhappy, and a fabulous giggle/laugh -- the last of which he surprised me with tonight as he talked himself to sleep with an apparently funny joke.

The stats from the doctor's visit:
  • Weight: 18 lbs. 14.5 oz (25%)
  • Height: 29" (75%)
  • Head circumference: 45 cm
The doctor commented that from his measurements he's tall and lanky. Really? He seems to have plenty in the way of tummy and pulkes, but who are we to judge? :) Anyway, he completely shredded the paper on the exam table; he really liked the crinkly sound it was making. Everything else in the exam was looking great (ptu, ptu, salt over the shoulder) and he even recovered very quickly from getting his latest shots -- less than 10 seconds later he was already distracted out of crying by something else to play with, and he remained happy the rest of the day.
