Today marked another first: the entire Selfon family ate the same breakfast! Yes, we all had oatmeal with fresh organic pears. Granted, Zachary's pears were pureed, and his oatmeal was actually rice ceral, but it was still practically a family meal, which is very exciting. Zachary is getting more and more interested in eating foods all the time. He smiles, licks his lips, occasionally grabs the spoon and tries to put it into his mouth (sometimes missing and getting food on his face), and seems very alert and happy while we perform airplane nosedives and chugging trains with his food to keep him interested. Once the food is actually in his mouth, sometimes a hand follows, so the food does end up everywhere pretty quickly if we're not monitoring with napkins or wipes at the ready. But he's definitely getting into it!It wasn't that long ago when we first gave him bananas; he's now graduated to many other kinds of fruit and veggies (incidentally, Meh and I agree that canned peas do indeed taste as metallic and gross as I remember them being when we were growing up), and even will use a sippy cup -- though he's as likely to bang it on his tray as actually drink from it.
