This morning, all of our remaining out-of-town family (Zachary's great-bubbie, great aunt, great uncle; then grandma, mima, and papa) headed back home. Everyone had all been enormous help during Zachary's early days, and it was somewhat overwhelming for us to return home from airport shuttling (including Meh's first "solo" car ride with Zachary) to an empty house. Since Zachary was in the quiet-alert state, we decided to venture out for our very first stroller tour of the neighborhood. With Korby in tow (clearly positioned behind the stroller to help reflect the dominance order, for whatever good that might do!), we had a nice 45-minute walk around the neighborhood and up past the junior high school (which Zachary might someday attend!). Zachary seemed to enjoy it, looking around for most of the walk until he conked out towards the end.
While the house is now down to the four of us, we still have wonderfully supportive friends who stop by to visit, and generally offer to do everything short of adding an addition to the second story (though I'm thinking some of them might just consider it). Everyone loves Zachary, and he's been doing great with meeting new people, even if he peed on a friend today. Ah well, I guess that's just part of the game!
Yesterday was Zachary's first piece of business mail. Today he received his first junk mail -- an ad for some brand of formula that was describing itself in terms of superiority to some other brand. Oy.
